Going On Road Trip

What is integration coaching?

The missing link between knowing better and doing better.

It’s possible to have total self-awareness and still be unable to change. That’s because Insight alone isn’t enough.
Integration coaching takes that awareness and builds
Alignment—collaborating with the parts of you that are resisting change.
It bridges the gap between understanding your patterns and taking the
Action required to change them.

Imagine your inner world as the inside of a bus going down the highway of life.

Ideally, there is a calm and capable driver at the wheel. And there are also passengers—these are the voices, emotions, and "parts" of you (like the Critic, the Perfectionist, or the Procrastinator).

When you feel like you are spinning your wheels, it’s usually because a passenger has hijacked the driver's seat. Maybe Fear grabbed the wheel to avoid a risk, or the Critic slammed the brakes to avoid failure.

If you keep asking yourself "Why do I keep self-sabotaging?" or "Why is lasting change so hard?"—it’s because your parts are currently driving the bus instead of the true you.

Integration is about getting your whole self aligned and onboard with your goals.

Integration doesn't mean kicking the unruly passengers off the bus (that’s impossible and not what this work is about) or letting them riot (that’s chaos). It is about restoring the true You—the confident, creative and capable Self—to the driver’s seat.

  • Insight: We stop the bus to listen. Instead of ignoring the passengers screaming for attention, we ask them what they need.

  • Alignment: We collaborate. We help the fearful parts feel safe and the critical parts relax, building trust so they are willing to take a seat and let you lead.

  • Action: We drive. Once the passengers are calm and the conflict has stopped, you can put the bus in gear and move toward your goals with the whole system supporting you.

Why integration?

Most people try to "fix" themselves by cutting off the parts they don't like—their anxiety, their procrastination, their anger. But trying to exile parts of yourself only creates more internal war.

Integration is different. It is the practice of bringing all parts of your internal system into a cooperative relationship. It is not about silencing the voices in your head; it is about becoming the leader of them.

When you are integrated, you are no longer hijacked by your emotions. You are in the driver's seat, listening to your parts with curiosity, but leading them with clarity.

Wisdom on Wholeness

"Integration is the process of bringing together the various parts of ourselves into a harmonious whole, where each part is acknowledged and valued."
Dick Schwartz - Author, creator of Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy

"To integrate the mind and the body, we need to address the emotional and psychological aspects that have been suppressed or ignored."
Gabor Maté - Author, world-renowned trauma and addiction expert.

“The journey of integration involves connecting with our own stories and experiences, making sense of them, and allowing them to shape who we are.”

Brené Brown - Research professor and author known for her work on vulnerability, courage, shame, and empathy.

“Integration means allowing ourselves to experience and process the full range of our emotions and bodily sensations, moving beyond the freeze response to trauma.”

Peter Levine - Author, psychotherapist and creator of Somatic Experiencing.
